On May 6, 2008, His Excellency Mr. SOK
An, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister in charge of the
Office of the Council of Ministers of the Kingdom of
Cambodia, welcomed His Excellency Mr. Virasakdi Futrakul,
Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
of the Kingdom of Thailand accompanied by a Thai
delegation during their visit to Phnom Penh.
The Meeting was conducted in a fruitful
and constructive atmosphere to discuss ways and means of
strengthening further cooperation between Cambodia and
Thailand.
Both sides agreed, inter alia, to
implement the Decision of the 31st Session of
the World Heritage Committee to enable Cambodia’s formal
inscription of the Sacred Site of the Temple of Preah
Vihear by the World Heritage Committee of UNESCO at the
32nd Session in July 2008.
The Kingdom of Cambodia strongly stresses
that the inscription of the Sacred Site of the Temple of
Preah Vihear is without prejudice to the demarcation
work of the joint Land Boundary Commission (JBC) between
Thailand and Cambodia; and that the zoning (“Zonage” in
French) stipulated in the document submitted by Cambodia
to UNESCO cannot be considered as boundary line.
