The Office of the

speculation with his dark intention to distort the facts,

U.N. is pleased with ECCC’s works, vows to raise fund to
meet shortfall

PENH, July 21 (PQRU) – A U.N expert Clint Williamson assured
Deputy Prime Minister H.E. Dr. Sok An on Wednesday that
the United Nations is satisfied with works of the Extraordinary
Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC) and vowed to raise
fund to meet the shortfall of $10 million for this year and
another $39 million for 2011. “I will be doing with governments
in Asia and Europe to try to raise the issue of fundraising and
hopefully to get some funding commitments.

Stephen J. Rapp told Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister, His
Excellency. Dr. Sok An on late Wednesday that Washington to fund
another $5 millions for the U.N.-funded Khmer Rouge tribunal
given the U.S. is pleased with the court’s function. “I was
impressed with the government to bring those most responsible
leaders of the genocidal regime to justice,” Mr. Rapp told H. E.

The IMF had compiled a list of GDP per country for ten months
ending October 2009, showing Cambodia with $10.091 billion and a

$2,900, Pakistan with $2,600, Cote d’Ivoire and Senegal with

told Cambodia’s athletic group to focus more on

Statement
The Spokesman of the Royal Government of Cambodia totally
rejects the report of the Thai News Agency on November 21,
2009, which was confirmed by Panitan Wattanayakorn, the Royal
Thai Government’s acting Spokesman, alleging that the daughter
of Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Cambodian
Prime Minister, was planning to hold shares in Cambodia Air

on Case Concerning Thai Staff at CATS

the reports posted in the Bangkok Post and The Nation that
Cambodia had fired the ten Thai staff, who worked for the
Cambodia Air Traffic Service (CATS), following a Thai engineer
of the CATS has been arrested of working as spy. More

New Ambassador of New Zealand Pays a Courtesy Visit to DPM Sok
An

H.E. Mr. Sok An, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister in
Charge of the Office of the Council of Ministers had a meeting
with H.E. Mr. Bede Corry, the newly-accredited Ambassador
of New Zealand to Cambodia on November 16, 2009 at the Office of
the Council of Ministers.
In the meeting, the Ambassador informed the Deputy Prime
Minister that he would strive to further strengthen the
bi-lateral relations between the two countries. He highly
appreciated the successful partnership of New Zealand with
APSARA as well as the contribution of New Zealand to human
resource development in Cambodia (especially English Language
Training), sustainable development, trade policies, etc.

Seventeenth Session of the General Assembly of 186 States
Parties to the 1972 Convention Concerning the Protection of the
World Cultural and Natural Heritage at UNESCO’s headquarters in

DPM Sok An Meets Minister of Knowledge Economy of Korea
H.E. Sok An, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister in charge of the Office of the Council of Ministers met with
H.E. Choi Kyung-Hwan, Minister of Knowledge Economy of the Republic of Korea, and his delegation on October 23, 2009 at the Office of the Council of Ministers.
During the meeting, H.E. Choi Kyung-Hwan expressed his hope that the government of Cambodia and the government of Korea would strive to further improve the Provincial Administration Information System (PAIS), which had been inaugurated on the same day. He added that he was confident there would be more agreements on various sectors between Cambodia and Korea, and that he would try to encourage more Korean companies to invest in Cambodia.

Cambodia and Korea sign MOU on Petroleum Exploration and Rice Export Investment
A Memorandum of Understanding on Petroleum Exploration Cooperation between Cambodian National Petroleum Authority (CNPA) and Korean National Oil Corporation (KNOC) and a separate Memorandum of Understanding on Rice Export Investment Project between Green Trade Company and KTC/Kyung An Cable Co., Ltd and Kookmin Bank were signed on an occasion presided over by

STATEMENT OF THE GOVERNMENT'S SPOKESMAN
After commenting by Prime Minister Hun Sen on October 21, 2009
regarding an arranging a residence available for the former
Prime Minister, Thaksin Shinawatra, if he wishes to stay in
Cambodia, leaders of Thailand made consecutive statements, which
showed the stance of Thailand that if Mr. Thaksin is to move to
Cambodia, the Government of Thailand would seek extradition of
Mr. Thaksin be returned to Thailand based on the Treaty which
was signed by the two governments in 1998 (source: Bangkok Post,

The Outcome of the Round-Table Discussion on the Temple of Preah
Vihear and the Candidacy of Cambodia to the World Heritage
Committee
The
round-table discussion on “the Temple of Preah Vihear and the
candidacy of Cambodia to the World Heritage Committee (WHC)” was
held on 22nd October, 2009 with the participation of members of
the Senate, members of the Parliament, representatives of the
Joint Border Commission (JBC), representatives of the Royal
Academy of Cambodia, senior researchers in culture and history,
and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs). The discussion was
conducted for the purpose of clarifying national and
international opinions concerning the inscription of the Temple
of Preah Vihear on the World Heritage List and the submission of
the candidacy of Cambodia to the WHC. The outcome of the
round-table discussion is as follows:

PM Samdech HUN SEN Presides Over the 15th Anniversary
of the Brigade 70
Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo HUN SEN,
Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, presided over the
15th Anniversary of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces Brigade 70.
The Anniversary celebration was held on October 13, 2009.
In his remarks, Samdech Techo HUN SEN expressed his
appreciation to Brigade 70 for its tireless efforts in
contributing to national defense and rehabilitation of
infrastructure in the country. He acknowledged the immense
contribution of Brigade 70 in these aspects as one of the
factors attracting national and international investors to do
business in Cambodia.
Samdech Techo
added that the Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC) has been
making further reform in the armed forces to enhance the quality
and efficiency of national security. Also, the RGC is having the
policy of granting concession land to families of army personnel
whose husbands were killed in action.
